RCA are delighted to have received an additional grant from The Highland Council's Highland Culture Fund for our 10th Anniversary programme, which continues with:
KENNY TAYLOR ANNUAL ILLUSTRATED LECTURE - Whales and Puffins at Iceland's Arctic edge
Saturday 11th January 2014 @ 19.30
Naturalist, traveller, raconteur - Kenny Taylor's talks are always extremely popular. As we huddle in the warm Kenny's beautiful images will remind us of the amazing wildlife to be seen in the far north, as he describes his search for the mighty blue whale, humpback whale, gyrfalcon and his (and our) perennial favourite - puffins.
Friday 7th March @20.00
We are thrilled to have been given the opportunity to host one of the finest bands working in Scotland at a time when the variety and quality of music and song is higher than it has ever been.
Kan is a union of four of the finest, most influential, award-winning, in demand artists of the 21st century traditional music world. Flutist Brian Finnegan, fiddler Aidean O'Rouke, drummer James Goodwin and guitarist Ian Stevenson create a quartet of lead instruments.
KAN are at the forefront of moulding and re-defining traditional music. A super group combining elements of FLOOK and LAU. A match made in heaven!
We have set the bar high this season. This gig will keep it there, and maybe raise it yet again.
Playful acts of rebellion
Saturday 22 March (date TBC)
The return of The Gramophones Theatre Company who were here with 'End To End' a journey from Lands End to John O'Groats.
In 'Playful acts of rebellion' the four actors ask: 'What makes something worth standing up for? Can I change the world from my living room? What if I’m protesting, my costume rips and a picture of me naked ends up going viral? Inspired by courageous protesters who risk everything for what they believe in, four women find quirky ways to effect change in the world around them. Charting the performers attempts to stand up for what they believe in, Playful Acts of Rebellion uses exciting visual storytelling to tell four explosive stories about what it is that makes us act.'
